CCA had trouble keeping up with Mesick in a 13-4 loss on Wednesday.
CCA got on the board in the first inning when Gretchen Purcell singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
After CCA scored one run in the top of the third, Mesick answered with one of their own. CCA scored when Megan Griswold grounded out, scoring one run. Mesick then answered when M Oneill grounded out, scoring one run.
Mesick pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second S Fisk hit a solo homer, E Hamilton singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Oneill grounded out, scoring one run, and M Kendall doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Mesick scored five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Mesick came thanks to singles by K Fitt, Fisk, and A Duquette and a double by G Quiggen.
Fitt was the winning pitcher for Mesick. She went two innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out one. Quiggen threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Gabby Curtis took the loss for CCA. She lasted five innings, allowing ten hits and 13 runs while striking out one.
Purcell went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead CCA in hits. CCA stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Megan Schultz led the way with two.
Mesick had ten hits in the game. Fisk and Duquette each managed multiple hits for Mesick. Fisk led Mesick with three hits in four at bats. N Parrish led Mesick with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.
