ZEELAND — Logan Williams took second place in the 800-meter run to highlight Big Rapids’ performance on Saturday in the Division 2 track and field finals in Zeeland.
Williams’ time was 1:55.68. Hunter Zartman of Otsego won in 1:55.56.
Top eight athletes received all-state medals.
The 4×800 Big Rapids relay team was 27th (8:35.30). The 1600-meter relay team was 23rd (3:38.11).
Dan Hardesty was 23rd in 9:52.94 in the 3,200-meter run.
Erika Beistle was 19th in the discus (34-9). Megan Langworthy was 16th in the 3,200-meter run (11:27.83).
Madison Hammer was 20th in the 400-meter dash (1:02.65).
“All performers did really well,” Big Rapids coach Mike Selzer said. “Highlights were Dan Hardesty with a PR in 3,200 meters and Logan Williams PR in 800 meters, placing second.”
For Chippewa Hills girls, the foursome of Natalie Newcombe, Deziree Shaw, Alicia Robertson and Sara Storey was 12th in the 3,200 meter relay (9:51.64).
Kyla Thorne was 20th in the pole vault (9-9).
For Crossroads, Shannon Ewing-Brown cleared 5-11 to tie for eighth in the high jump in the Division 4 meet in Hudsonville.
